Originally conceived and styled as a spin-off from The Office, Parks and Recreation was eventually launched as a standalone show, though with more than a little of the same kind of comedy.
However, from the second season onwards it took on a life of its own and rapidly became one of the funniest shows on TV. Season five was no exception.
Somehow the show has managed to maintain a very high level of quality, whilst allowing the characters some room to develop. We’ve seen Tom start his own business and Ron acquire a not-so-private life outside of work. Leslie won the election and gets married to Ben, whilst April gets a promotion.
The show has been renewed or a sixth season and it will be interesting to see if that maintain the ridiculously high quality of the show for yet another season. Absolute essential viewing.
