Tommy Lee Jones plays Texas Ranger Roland Sharp, who is forced to babysit a group of cheerleaders after they witness a murder.
This is one of those movies that is best watched with absolutely no expectations. It is silly and plotwise completely ridiculous. At one point there is a dance-off between the cheerleaders and a convict-turned-preacher, played by Cedric the Entertainer.
As you might imagine, there is a clash of cultures between the stick in the mud Ranger and the partying cheerleaders, but at the end of the day they all learn a little something from each other.
There is some action, some comedy and some synchronised dancing, so pretty much something for everyone. This is mindless fun, but it has an internal logic that makes everything work as soon as you buy into the premise. If you can’t buy into it, then this movie isn’t for you. If you can then it is an enjoyable romp.
